Lithuania

Vilnius And Beyond!

August 8-17, 2024

Scenic Landscapes and Historical Beauty

Lithuania lies on the eastern shore of the Baltic Sea in northeastern Europe. Once the largest country in Europe, Lithuania ruled a powerful empire controlling eastern Europe in the 14th–16th centuries. Joining Poland for 200 years, it formed the Polish-Lithuanian Confederation for the next two centuries. But it lost its independence in 1795 with a series of occupations by Russia, Germany during World War II and eventually the USSR in 1944.  But in 1990 became the first country to declare independence from the USSR gaining membership in the European Union and NATO in 2004. Proud of its freedom from tyranny, Lithuania now celebrates two Independence Days each year.

Lithuania’s capital is Vilnius,  a vibrant and inviting city whose gothic and baroque architecture styles makes it one of the most beautiful cities in Europe.  Its medieval Old Town is even on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Then there’s its vivacious nightlife full of lively pubs and elegant restaurants. Known for its numerous castles, Lithuania was also the last country in Europe to convert to Christianity and is 75% catholic these days. The only major European city where you can fly over in a hot air balloon, Lithuania awaits!

Sound interesting? Then here's your chance! Plans have been finalized for our baseball road trip to Lithuania, so now is the time to gear up if you plan to join us. Offering extensive sightseeing and baseball camaraderie, we are now signing up players for this exciting trip, so don't miss out.

Paneriai Memorial Park and Trakai Castle

Interested in joining us? Well the requirements are simple.  First, the ability and desire to play baseball in a unique international setting.  Second, an interest in international goodwill and sportsmanship (e.g. if you swing the bat at the ump after a called strike three, please try fantasy baseball).  Third, an adventurous spirit willing to venture forth into the historic and picturesque Vilnius.

What’s involved in this once in a lifetime opportunity? First, you will depart America on August 8th and arrive in Vilnius the next day where you'll transfer by cab to our hotel. After a night of rest, we will begin our baseball exploits playing four games in Lithuania against local baseball teams.
