The Ultimate Spring Training Tournament
March 17-20, 2011
Al Lang Field St Petersburg, Florida
Imagine having your own spring training in Florida the same time as the pros! Then join us at the 2011 Ultimate Spring Training Tournament where you'll not only play baseball, but we'll also be able to catch an actual spring training games. You'll play seven games over the four days at historical Al Lang Field in St Petersburg with every single game played in this beautiful downtown water front stadium.
We are proud to announce the Ultimate Spring Training Tournament is now open for registration. Our Thursday through Sunday tournament will consist of players from all over the country (and hopefully a few from around the world) traveling to Al Lang Field for a long weekend of games, sun, and family fun. The 2011 tournament is a wood bat event just like major league baseball. Come as a player or as a group of friends wanting to experience the ultimate in spring training baseball camaraderie. As an inaugural event, we are limiting the tournament to 39 players (Alfred Hitchcock would be proud) forming three teams so that EVERY GAME will be played in the stadium where you will enter baseball immortality by leading your team to victory! Or at least that's what you will tell your friends.
You'll be playing at the same spring training stadium that the pros have been using since 1922. Historic Al Lang Stadium has been the spring training home of the Boston Braves (1922-37), New York Yanks (1947-50, 1952-61), New York Giants (1951), St Louis Cardinals (1947-1997), New York Mets (1962-87), Baltimore Orioles (1991-95), and Tampa Bay Rays (1998-2008). You'll be following in the footsteps of Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Stan Musial and Cal Ripken who have all honed their skills at Al Lang. Renovated and rebuilt over the years, Al Lang Field is full of history. Between games make sure you check out the historical marker in the shape of home plate that stands just north of the stadium commemorating the Boston Braves spring training years here. The Tampa Bay Rays moved their spring training site from Al Lang down to Port Charlotte two years ago, so Al Lang is now the official home of Baseball International's Ultimate Spring Training Tournament. Join us this year for daily doubleheaders to tune your skills, catered lunches by the same people used by the Pros, and sunny 80 degrees days. Plus, you'll be able to see real spring training games before, after, or during our tournament depending on the final 2011 MLB spring training schedules.
But that's not all. It will also be famous spring weekend in sunny Florida making it a great tournament to bring your wife, family or girlfriend down south to enjoy the St Petersburg beaches and the local sites including the Salvador Dali Museum, Fort De Soto Park, the Sunken Gardens, the Weedon Island Nature Preserve, Ybor City, Busch Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo, St Petersburg Pier, the Electric Marina (boat, bike and sailboat rentals), the Skyway Fishing Pier, the Sunken Gardens, the Pinellas Trails, Friendship Trail Bridge, the Florida Aquarium, St Petersburg water cruises, Caption Memo's Pirate Cruise and even nearby Disney World (75 minutes away). This will make you more than just a baseball hero.
